Background and Purpose: Emotion regulation is a fundamental construct in developmental and clinical psychology that plays a critical role in adolescents’ mental health, social adjustment, and academic functioning. Therefore, the present study aimed to identify the components of adolescent emotion regulation from the perspective of experts. Method:This study employed qualitative design using thematic analysis based on the framework proposed by Braun and Clarke (2006). The participants included 27 psychologists and counselors specializing in the field of adolescents who were selected purposively and continued until theoretical saturation. Data was gathered through semi-structured interviews (45 to 90 minutes) and transcribed verbatim. The data were analyzed inductively at the semantic level following the six phases of thematic analysis. To enhance the trustworthiness of the findings, coding and thematic interpretations were reviewed by a second researcher, and detailed documentation procedures were supported throughout the study. MAXQDA- 2022 software was used for data organization and management. Results:Based on the results obtained, 9 main components were extracted, including cognitive components, attention regulation, impulse control, active emotional self-regulation components, internal self-regulation, interpersonal emotion regulation, emotional expression and communication, emotional self-awareness, and acceptance and tolerance of emotions. Conclusion: The findings suggest that emotion regulation in adolescents is an interactive and non-linear system composed of nine interrelated components organized within overlapping functional clusters. Within this system, emotional self-awareness provides the foundation for recognizing and understanding emotional experiences, emotional acceptance reduces internal resistance to affective states, and personal values guide regulatory processes in conjunction with other components. The proposed model may provide a useful framework for the development of preventive, educational, and intervention programs aimed at promoting adolescent mental health.
